Corsica storm Fabien

2 Attachment(s)
I believe I mentioned this in another thread but I decided to post it here too. Corsica, not to mention Spain, Portugal and mainland France were recently hit by a bad storm named Fabien. It set some records for wind on the island and closed the airport at Ajaccio on the 21st.

It closed when the nearby Gravona river had a record flood. The airport was supposed to conduct a test landing today (28th) to see if the runway could be reopened.

I hope everyone there is ok. And a test landing? Yikes. A brave pilot must’ve signed up for that!

I think no engineer can accurately predict how the ground will hold up after it's been saturated like that.
