France Baby

Hey guys I just arrived at the hotel and well what can I say......it's beautiful here.
Everyone here is so kind and friendly unlike some people in the states.
Well today I'm going to see the Eifle tower and then I don't know see where I can go from there.

Peace Out

I heard that people are not nice if you don't speak french...by the way, how cold is it?
Have a good time!!

I don't speak french at all, so my biggest fear is being treated rudely. A friend of my aunt's visited Paris a while ago and said she was appalled by how she was treated since she spoke only english. Hopefully this isn't usually the case.

GianGian if somebody came to Brasil and refused to speak Portugese what would you think? Think of it that way, its simply a courtesy to the French to speak their language. This applies to any country. ;)

Puffyrock2 as long as you try to speak French the people there will definitely congratulate you for your efforts. Imagine if a tourist came to America and refused to speak English. What would you think? ;)

Its more than that, from what I've observed. Imagine if somebody was vacationing here and not only refused to speak English, but expected you to speak whatever their language was.

Renegade, have fun, mon ami !

I think that the visitors are the one who should get courtesies. If someone goes to your house to have dinner do you make them cook their food?
I think that there is no good reason for receiving somebody rudely. I have nothing against french people, but this is the only country that I have heard about that people do this.
France is a developed nation, I imagine that most people there speak english to the degree of being able to help a tourist.

Not saying I wouldn't attempt to speak any french, I just don't feel i'd be understandable, but i'd try. I surely wounldn't expect everyone to know english there.
