A prayer for the victims and their families. I believe it was Voltaire who said 'I may not agree with what you have to say but I will defend to the death your right to say it' or something along those lines. Certainly something to think about these days. :(

When I saw the news I remember being so glad she doesn't live in Paris anymore, but despite that fact my heart skipped a beat when I first read the headline.

It is so easy to say "Je suis Charlie" now! Where was your solidarity with Charlie Hebdo and Theo van Gogh and many others before they were killed? What did you do to help Kurt Westergaard or Salman Rushdie? Didn't you say once Charlie went too far and one should not hurt religious feelings? Didn't you say Salman Rushdie is overrated and Westergaard is just an average Cartoonist? As if freedom of speech is linked to the quality of that speech!
When you now write "je suis Charlie", do you actually know what it means? Do you know what it takes? "Je suis Charlie" means you are ready to say what you think no matter what consequences that might have. Je suis Charlie means not to feed a crocodile hoping it will eat you last!
Are you still sure you want to be Charlie?
mte, maybe Europe (and the whole world) will finally understand how dangerous radical theists are. Anyway all problems with them will end sooner than later - Le Pen and FN have already won elections.
