What genre do you want a (hypothetical) new album to be in?

Say that a new album is released in Spring 2018. What genre would you like it to be in?
I think shoegaze or post rock would fit her.

I really enjoyed two of the songs on her last album, Alcaline and K.O. I think with some better promotion and videos for these songs, they should have been hits. I believe these fall under the heading of 'pop' music.

You opened a can of worms with this question! :) I'm sure there will be a variety of opinions.

I had to look up "shoegaze" because I had no idea what this genre was. Now it makes sense why they call it shoegaze, because the performers just stand there and look at the floor. I think I would miss seeing her eyes...

Scruffy had mentioned K.O. and Alcaline, and those were pretty good songs. I thought the song Charles est Stone was the best on the album personally. It would fit into the Dance Music genre, I believe. I think Alizee is still hip enough to pull off a Dance Music/Technopop album and do well.

Her music needs to be more beat-forward. She doesn't have a powerful enough voice to have her vocals to be front and center and everything else in the background. I would like to see an album with songs with a strong beat.

Good example: I spent this last weekend in Vegas. I like blackjack and don't like the stuffiness of the big casinos, so I venture downtown to play in the smaller ones. They have music piped in, mainly pop and dance. It was a fun atmosphere. The song Bad Romance by Lady Gaga starts playing, and all of a sudden the place comes alive. People started moving. We had a very beautiful card dealer, and she starts dancing and singing along. A number of women just started dancing right where they were. If you listen to the song, it is hard not to get caught up in it. Lady Gaga songs command attention.

I would love for her to have an album with songs that make people notice that they are on and say "turn it up!" I think an album like this would have been better 10 years ago, but she still has time.

I agree clevercowboy.
Dance music would indeed fit her.
I'd love to see Alizee again touring in Europe.
However lady gaga is lady gaga. I think her lyrics wouldn't fit Alizee. I think a more docile version of that would though, like lili could sing about Corsica and how amazing it is haha.
She could dedicate the new album to Corsica, and have us know about it more. I know nothing about it, but I am interested to know more, and what a better travel guide than our little lili?

On a sidenote, the photography of her 2012 "because of autumn" video was really nice, I would like to see more stylised vids like that. The kind of MTV music style videos of today are very boring to me. You know, where they cut to something else every 5 seconds?

I think we all want Alizee to sell a million+ albums and not 30K albums like her last three. Lady Gaga was just an example of an artist making what people wanted to hear. Alizee had stated in one interview that after the MF breakup that she was looking forward to making music that she wanted to sing. The problem was that not too many people were interested in it.

An album of Corsican folk music? :13: That might work, actually. She has done a song that was pretty folksy, almost country, and she sounded great.

It's settled then. Her new album will be funded by you, me and the other two people still using these forums. We can raise 20 euros. lol

Well, in 2000 Alizee was also just an example of an artist making what people wanted to hear.:D
I dont hear lady gagas music but her shows are impressive and she is still successful.
She has credits as a songwriter and producer, she can play piano/guitar and studied music.

Corsican folk music sounds good but it's only a small market. Maybe a few colloborations with well known french singers on their projects would help to bring her back in the business.

Ouch! Reality sometimes sure does suck.

I don't even know if there is such a thing as Corsican folk music. Whatever genre she goes with if there is another album, I hope she finds a producer/composer that believes in her and writes music where she sounds her best. Definitely Alizee lacks confidence and she is not self-motivated like Madonna or Lady Gaga.

Although Alizee can't belt out a song, there is a lot of music she can handle. Almost anything by Selena Gomez.

Hey don't fret. The woman has half a million followers on her instagram page. She's doing better than ever as in she's happier than she's ever been.
Most importantly, she's herself.
I love the real Alizee a whole lot more than the early 00's "manufactured" Alizee.

But it wouldn't hurt to do a new EP once in a while. With websites like bandcamp and soundcloud, you don't really need a record company nowadays to be a musician.
