Cruise and Holmes leave Italy after wedding
The US actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have left Italy for a honeymoon in the Maldives after their wedding in Bracciano, near Rome, an Italian news agency has reported.

The couple left Rome on a private jet while their Hollywood guests -- Brooke Shields, Jim Carrey, Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez -- left later for California, the Italian airport news agency Telenews revealed.

The Corriere della Sera newspaper criticised on Sunday the security measures surrounding the star-studded wedding which took place far from the gaze of gathered fans.

The couple -- one of Hollywood's most prominent -- did not appear in public after the ceremony at 15th-century Odescalchi castle perched above the lakeside town.

It is Cruise's third marriage and Holmes' first.
