I don't think the re-orchestrations are an attempt to compete with the original orchestrations. The re-orchestrations acknowledge her past, but allow her to progress away from it as well. I'm a little surprised she continues to perform Moi Lolita relatively unchanged, but it was her biggest recording.

I agree. There is nothing that prevents her from using the old arrangements. It's a choice she has made.
