I think Matrix can't make up his mind, almost like a love/hate relationship. I think he adores the early Alizée, and when she does anything that he deems out of keeping with her earlier persona (as he sees it) then he lashes out at her and walks away, only to come back to her again and again. Maybe I’m misreading the whole thing, but that’s the way it seems to me.
