By putting links to Her site, we promote this page. When we put a link, it's considered by robots, which index the websites, that we like this site, and we think that it's worth visiting. If a specific page have many links on other sites, it means that this site is popular over the net and it's a reliable site. I believe that ALS have this on mind.
