When we talk about Alizée and success, I think many of us are talking about her having enough commercial success to stay in good graces with the record companies. For us to have the opportunity to get new Alizée music, she needs to have a record company that can provide the backing she needs, the recording, the promotion and the distribution networks. This stuff is really hard to do alone. If she doesn’t meet the goals of the record company she could find herself on the outside looking in. That’s why many of us want her to have at least enough success to stay connected to the gatekeepers. I’d guess she has barely accomplished this with the last two albums. Fortunately, I think her success with DALS has helped to give her another shot at it. So yes, I do wish her commercial success. At least enough to keep her in the business.
