Hell yeah it's the same Laurent! Film is his first passion. In fact, pretty much all he did with Mylene in the early days was to lead up to and earn money for his life-long dream project, Giorgino. Getting to finally make that film with Mylene in the early 90s, and it's subsequent critical and commercial failure, is pretty much
the turning point in both their careers.
Anyway, this new film looks nice... though the critics are responding to it much the same as his last one: beautiful to look at, but over-long, over-boring, and over-indulgent. Though then again, I loved Giorgino, so who knows. And there's a Mylene song on the new Laurent-composed soundtrack, so it's all good as far as I'm concerned!
