It's amazing he didn't get injured. That was a huge shot and protective equipment was not great in 1972.
I've been a lifetime football fan but over the last 10 years I prefer college football over the NFL. There is more unpredictability and big play potential. I live in Buckeye country and have been to OSU home games. There are a lot of school traditions that occur before and after the games, as well as during the halftime show. It's an experience that you don't have at NFL games, and I have attended some of those as well.
Football can also completely consume a weekend, so I have to be careful.
College football is scheduled all day on Saturday and I could be watching it still at midnight if I wanted to (Pac-12 games). NFL all day on Sunday, plus Monday and Thursday nights. I'm usually pretty busy on Sunday, so I can't follow it like I used to.
