Some of this may just come down to simple prejudice or a kind of music elitism. It seems a lot of guys who are into what they consider ‘manly’ music look down their noses at pop music and don’t take it seriously. They are especially hard on female pop artists. They wouldn’t be caught dead listening to it, but I bet many of them secretly like at least some of it.
I even know a few guys that don’t like anything sung by a woman, no matter what genre it comes from. To them, rock music is a man’s world and everything else sucks. I think they are the ones that would label all male Alizée fans gay.
I’m sure Alizée has fans from every race, color, creed, age, nationality and sexual orientation. No single group has a monopoly on good taste in music. In a way I feel sorry for people whose prejudices won’t allow them to enjoy all that the music world has to offer.
