LoL, the manual Vette has a solenoid that locks out 2nd and 3rd, forcing you to shift from 1st to 4th unless you keep the revs high (i.e., you are using the torque for performance acceleration).
Reason? This saves enough on fuel consumption that the vehicle is able to avoid the gas guzzler tax.
How screwed up can you get. It needs the solenoid to avoid the tax, requiring the driver to launch at performance levels in order to go sequentially through the gears. Of course, for a few dollars, you can have the solenoid "surgically" disabled.
But then again, a Z06 can go from 0 to 60 all in first gear!
And get this, it can actually start from 0 in sixth gear and go all the way to about 190..all in sixth gear!
