Actually, there is no set way to do an album. Probably the most common way is that a company like Sony assigns a producer to the project. The producer then makes many of the decisions on how the project will proceed. Much also depends on what the artist can contribute to the process, such as writing and recording instruments and vocals. In some cases an artist may bring a nearly finished product to the record company and actually be a co-producer.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to hearing a new song by Alizée, especially if it's from the new album. And it should give us some indication of what the rest of the album may be like.
I'm just surprised it's coming this soon, assuming the news is true.
