Heh, I suspect Tchaikovsky was riffing on the way rumours get started around here (and elsewhere). It's been somewhat of a bone of contention, lately...
I can't tell you how bummed I was when that one was proven false, btw. Lili singing jazz would have been hawsome with a capital H.
