The definition I like to use for an introvert is: someone who draws energy (recharges) from within. An introvert can perform, but then they need quiet time to recharge their batteries.

I have not seen that definition of introvert, but it is spot on.
Being one myself and knowing many others through my life, there is a social, outgoing side to an introvert. I can only speak for myself on this one, but if I take a multiple day trip with a group of people, I still need some "alone" time each day.
Recharging is the perfect word.
