ok, I thought there were actually 2 survivors, smith and an electricity co employee
the only message is that zombies are unable to speak (related to the strikes in hollywood maybe)
it's obvious that they simplified the story and put a bunch of fx to please a teen audience
well, first one is much more interesting, at least zombies are real characters who speak (just like in matheson's novel)

there's an interesting movie about survivors called "malvil" I don't know if it's available in the states though
