I have a 10 TB RAID 5 network database myself.. it is accessible by all computers to the wireless netowrk in the house and is composed of 5 hard drives... I can lose multiple hard drives and never lose any data due to how the RAID technology works... all I have to do is replace the hard drives that go bad and the the data is rebuilt from the other hard drives... RAID 5 distributes the information over many hard drives... it is not redundancy backup it is a little bit more sophisticated than that... you can read up more on it here...
