La Belle et la bete
With all the Alizée-inspired Francophiles here, I was wondering if anyone has seen that classic French film, Jean Coctaeu’s Beauty and the Beast? Here’s a clip –

It’s been some years since I’ve watched the whole thing, but I remember the Beast’s castle being pretty creepy – excellent effects, esp. for such an old film.
Long before Alizée, this film inspired me to learn a little French – just a little ... one line, actually. There’s one scene where the Beast says (in French), “Pardon me … for being a beast!” I remember watching that scene over and over until I learned how to say that (I’ve forgotten now … it’s been a few years). I just thought that was a great line to be able to say in French.
Anyway, it’s a great film, and I recommend it if you haven’t seen it.
