Default International Travel Issues

Well, I figured as this applies to various situations, it might be good to start a thread for it.

Passport: Just so you know, I applied for a new passport (not an original), sent the stuff in with the option for expedited service and the fastest mailing option there and back.
I sent my documents including my original passport on the 18th and got it back about noon on the 29th of Dec. I'm in California. It may have taken a bit longer than sending from some places. I think the envelope coming back was stamped on the 27th. So other than possibly a day earlier, I think that's the fastest service you can expect unless you have some other special way of getting a passport. You will need a passport for Mexico as I understand it.

Money: You will need money to do anything... or buy anything.

travel.state.gov says it takes 4-6 weeks to be processed from receipt, so I'd say around 2 months. I need to go ahead and get around to getting mine, as well.

You'll most likely need a passport for any form of travel to/from Mexico.

I got my passport in about 6 weeks non-express. I was very impressed in how fast it came. They told me it would take 4 to 6 month with the non-express and I got it in one in a half months. :-)

well looks like we're gonna have to expedite it if lili comes to mexico in February. but then i'm not sure that visit is a concert, i think it's just a promo and small showcase perhaps and i don't know if an actual concert is planned for the future down there.

Isn't it funny how people in the USA who celebrated when the Berlin Wall came down, are now advocating building new walls?
