Angry Computer won't recognize usb devices

Just tonight, for no apparent reason, Windows refuses to recognize my USB hub and video capture card. It tries to install new drivers and they are listed in device manager as "unknown device". Multiple tries at reinstalling them and multiple system restores later, the problem is still there. And to think the only thing I did was update Windows Defender and try to reinstall the program for my video capture device (to try to get it to work better - it has never worked properly.) How can I fix this?

if it just started for no apparent reason, it sounds like a problem with the HUB itself. do you have any other USB devices you can test to see if they work?

you said you already tried reinstalling the drivers and etc right?

Yeah one time one of my USB ports failed and it would jam up My Explorer every time I went to that window with the drives and devices. I was sure it was the memory I installed. But after fussing for a while, it turned out that it was whenever something was plugged in that USB port. (I thought it was something else but it was clearing up because I had to unplug everything to open up the case ).

you said it happened when you updated windows defender?
try uninstalling windows defender only (just uninstall and don't instal it back)
then try your ports then tell me what happens

And that's a change, till I'm finally left with an eight
Tell me to react, I just stare
Maybe I don't know if I should change
A feeling that we share...

Number me with rage, it's a shame
(Such a shame)
Number me in haste, it's a shame
This eagerness to change
It's a shame..."

None of my ports work. The computer knows that it is using a usb device, but it is still "unknown device" and no driver is installed. Nothing works.

The easiest thing in my opinion is to reinstall Windows. Back when I was running Windows, I would wipe the drive and reinstall every six months or so, and it would do wonders for performance, in addition to fixing all the random problems that tend to pop up.
