Default Is Trick-or-Treating dead?

Simple question:

Is Trick-or-Treating dead?

I was never huge into the Halloween holiday myself, but it seems the holiday, especially Trick-or-Treating, is on the ropes. Trick-or-treating is seen as too dangerous, or something, and you hear a lot about Trunk-or-treats held in parking lots.

Maybe the bane of Halloween's past, overgrown teenagers, will rescue Trick-or-treating. [Because they used to get dirty looks.]

Trick-or-Treating is not dead. I live in the country, so i don't get any trick-or-treaters around here. However, nicer neighborhoods and suburbs still get a lot. I was unsure myself if kids still do that, but several family members claim they get tons of trick-or-treaters still.

Hmm... last year we got only 1 or 2 visitors. We lived in an apartment complex, which is often a efficient target of savvy trick or treaters. Not too fun though, compared to the nice neighborhoods. Who knows?

oh yeah, it's definitely died down a lot since i was a kid!
i remember when i was a kid, id be hitting the houses at like 5 with a group of friends for a good few hours.

nowadays, there's a few of the younger kids with their parents at around 5, and once it gets real dark out, maybe like a dozen older kids an hour.

It depends what neighbourhood you're in. My neighbourhood is older, so most of the kids who once lived here have grown up and moved away. So, it's pretty dead here.

However, just 2 minutes north of me is a much newer development where my cousin lives. Since it's newer, it's mostly younger couples with small kids. So, they get tons of kids on Halloween.

Our house has been rather dead for several years now.

We handed out candy (though double helpings because of the small number) to maybe 25-30 kids total, whereas it wasn't uncommon when I was younger for my parents to have seen 70 kids.
