Default Ella Elle L'a Fitzgerald?

When reading through the thread last week about Alizée's performance at the festival Muzik'elles de Meaux, I watched the France Gall video of her singing Laisse tomber les filles that Big Dan posted. It made me curious to find out what her other song sounded like that Alizée sings Ella Elle L'a. Now I knew that this song was about a young black woman, but I never realized it was about Ella Fitzgerald. I never saw it mentioned in the Czech data base or the Alizee bible and never remember it being discussed. I think if had been written in English and sung by an American singer, I would've known right away.
I'm just wondering if I'm the only one who didn't know?

When I watched the music video last week I noticed and then looked it up on Wikipedia too. Yah I never knew of this either until then. But I just assumed everyone else did...very cool actually. Great song Especially when Zee sings it But those darned gospel singers ruin it haha.

I think somebody here mentioned it before.

Man I think this just proves that even back during France Gall's time, every European person listened to American musicians hahaha.

Cool stuff Scruff. The translation helps a lot. Alizée has done a couple of France Gall covers now, hasn't she?

As far as I know...
1) Il jouait du piano debout
2) Ella elle l'a
3) Laisse tomber les filles

While we're on the topic of France Gall, I would looove to hear Alizée have a go at this song:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/j4SkgOa4Vg4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/j4SkgOa4Vg4?fs=1&amp;hl=en_GB" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>

France Gall's best imo, and would sound stunning in Alizée's sweet-little girl voice she does (think PTB, À Quoi Rêve Une Jeune Fille and Eden, Eden )
