Alizee In America? But How?
Alizee in America?
Upshot: Alizee can probably do whatever she wishes to do if she is really committed and really motivated. She definitely has the looks and talent to make it big here. It may be said that there are too many obstacles but all in all i think Alizee has a very complete package: talent, singing, looks, maturity, money, connections, and perhaps even a niche in the U.S. market. I agree with about everything you said, except I think she could have been big, but I don't think she can now...basically because she is more mature than the society of music in America. She already had her stage of being the hottest thing on the planet, and the road she is taking now just isn't what mainstream America wants. I respect her much more now, but thats not the name of the game.
However, I think her coming to America hinges on one person - Madonna. If Alizee was to produce a few more english songs and then personally contact Madonna, then maybe something could happen. |

My feeling :
1/ She just isn't what mainstream America wants. 2/ to "eat" America, you have to be really hungry. She just not have this kind of ambition. 3/ She certainly not want a Britney kind of life. (and the problems coming with this level of popularity) |

She is more mature than Britney. She has so much more potential than Britney. I think she would do well here if she start small.

Yes but for the moment it seems she don't want any more success. That desire has some how vanished. I am not an American (still I am on this forum) so I won't gain anything even if Alizee visits America. The only thing is she is missing on one big market. English factor is a big hindrance. We will see for how long her heart doesn't tempt her to be in America. Remember she is still only 23.

If Alizée actually wanted to be big in the US (I don't think she wants to) there's one big reason it will never happen: her singing in a language that's not English. Can anyone tell me of any artist that made it big in the US not singing in English? It can't be many.
Besides, I think you made a good point with your post. It would take a lot of effort if she wants to succeed, and she already lives a good life in France, so why bother? (BTW, I think you're giving her a bit too much credit for her English skills. ) |

Rammstein have toured the states and were met with enormous success, even Wal-Mart carries Rammstein albums despite the fact they have only done one song I know of in English. More recently, Japan's Puffy AmiYumi have toured the states and they sing mostly in their native language. Yael Naim's new album is mostly in Herbew and Sigur Ros sing exclusively in Icelandic. And then of course, you have had your one hit wonder songs in foreign languages from artists like Falco and Nena. So basically, I think more foreign language artists have had success here than most people may think.
