Default Anybody else think she DOESN'T sound French?

I have thought about this for a while. When I first started listening to her, she sounded French. But recently, after trying Farmer, Mars, and Jenifer, Alizée doesn't sound French. She sounds completely different from others. Speaking, she does sound French. But singing, she sounds like she has her own language. And since French is the most beautiful language, our minds immediately try think it is French! Lol kidding. But really, she sounds so different, I was wondering if anybody else thought like this. It is cool, but wierd!

I'm going to say this real simple.... c'est l'accent Corse. It's her Corsican accent that you are probably hearing. Everybody loves it.

May I say, I don't think so... You could here it when she was younger in Intw, but never when she 's singing.
But every people has is own unique way of prononcing some words...And it's probably more easy to notice when you don't understand the words... ( you just have to hear the sounds, not concentrate on the meaning...)

So, it isn't different accent then? Can you tell us more about French accents?

There is accents. The most well known is the south one. ( like in USA, I suppose). There is a lot of accents ( I could say, one for each part of France...)

The corsican one is always use in jokes, when its about maffia activities

The Parisian one is considered to be the "neutral one", the correct one. This is the one you can hear on french channel news.
And, apart from some exceptions, the accent used in the french songs.

So, frequently, people who move from south of France to Paris lost their accents after a few years ( like myself)

I could hear Corsican ( or South) accent when Alizée was talking, at her debuts. But now, i would say she's practically lost it.

What she didn't lost is her way to prononce the words. It's her own way. Like Vanessa Paradis has a very recognizable one.

I don't remember exactly when, maybe in 2003-04 I remember there was a discussion about her French accent, and this was in the French media, I think. It was that Corsican accent that, with her popularity, got the subject going. Over at AF we have a thread on this from WAY back when. I'll try to find it and update you guys on the past discussion, since it was the media that asked the question about her accent/dialect. . .

Later, dudes and dudettes.

All I will say is Ella Ella is kind of what I thought a French song would sound like and singing it, she sounds very very French, especialy in the part from 1:40 to 2:30.
