High Definition video (and HDTV) is standard that's lowest possible resolution is 1280x720 pixels. The "Full HD", the best resolution of High Definition standard is 1920x1080 pixels.
RMJ is exactly right, CFH. HD is 720p (1280x720) or 1080i/1080p (1920x1080).
