Gas $
Gas here in South Central New York are at 4.29/Gal.
I am staying under 55mph on my 22 mile ride to work every day. vOv We've been trying to make 'group" trips for groceries/whatever, so that we take only one car (usually my wife's, as it gets 34mpg). I'm actually expecting more gas price increases. Drilling won't help gas prices, as it takes 3 to 5 years to bring a new field online. For instance, in the US, they've been talking about drilling in Alaska National Wildlife Preserve (which I oppose). This is going to bring in (at best) 500,000 barrels a day! WHOOOP! Until you remember that the US uses (as of my latest numbers, think their actually from last year) 81,000,000 barrels a day. 1/160th...... That isn't going to make a dent in prices at all. Beyond that, it will take so long to get those fields running, its like "why bother". If we leave it there, it will be there for when we need it (like when gas hits $25.00 gal...) I remember filling up my 1962 Galaxy 500 with 29 Gallons of gas, and it cost $14.50......... Now I fill my Grand Am - 14 Gallons and its $55.00......... Ed

You are right about the time it takes to even start to bring a new field online. And, once you talk about very remote areas, it can take much longer as a means of getting the oil out also has to be constructed. By the way, I believe US consumption is about 20 million barrels a day. 81 million is the total world daily usage. One area that needs a big push is oil shale. There are huge reserves of oil shale in North America, but the technology to get the oil out economically is lacking (prices were not high enough until recently to make it potentially profitable, so there has not been a lot of investment in research). This area has HUGE potential.

Yea
These gas prices don't help when you have to drive 45min to work and drive another 45mn back not counting that I get off of work when everyone in the community where I work gets off. So that is about another 10-20min add on to my travel. O finally, on occasion having to pick up my younger cousin from school which is another additional 30min. Yep just another day at work. Respect To All Peace Out

Right now gas is $3.93 for regular where I live, and it costs me around $50 to fill up my 89 Camaro. That thing has a 305 V8 and it sucks the gas up. I'm only getting around 16 mpg.

Lol! Me and my dad are going to put a bigger engine in it as soon as the money is available. Are aim is to get over 600hp so my gas mileage is only going down from here. But this is mostly going to be a weekend toy to cruise around and show off in. I can't wait to get after some of the rice burners that run around and show them what a real hot rod is.

260HP turbo-charged direct injection 2.0 liter four banger, with a flat 260 lb-ft torque curve from 2500 to 5300 (fantastic cruise acceleration response), 0 to 60 in 5.2 and a quarter mile just under 14 possible on a good day. 30 mpg highway and 23 in city (driving easy). I don't drive easy, so I get about 19 in the city.
