i don´t know if only the fact that it´s a language you don´t know makes the songs more cute

When the words are in a different language they really cease to be lyrics, and the artist's voice becomes purely another instrument...thats why alot of Alizee's fans don't know french. She has such an amazing voice and the tone of each lyric fits into almost every song perfectly.
In my opinion most artists ruin their songs with offbeat lyrics that don't really fit in, thats why I like electronic music because it usually doesn't have lyrics...but when Alizee sings it is just like adding another beautiful instrument, and each song is better because of her voice. |

Very true.
Anyone out there (beside WyomingGrizFan) familiar with Bulgarian pop-folk? There's a lot of fun stuff out there. Actually a lot of overlap with Greek and Turkish pop (e.g., borrowed melodies). |

Ahem. I've become a fan of Goin' Through ever since I heard Kalimera Ellada. I don't know how to type in Greek, so I'll spare you guys that.

Добрий день;
Thanks for the compliment, "fsquared." I also like Мика Ньютон, Ані Лорак and Руслана, although they are from a different country; further east if not mistaken. Granted, Bulgaria has many fine and talented female singers as well, to say the least. дякую до побачення Last edited by WyomingGrizFan; 12-09-2007 at 03:47 AM.. |

Ahh..'Ελενα. Hot and a good singer too. Though I was never in to her music and greek pop in general. Well, with few exceptions, Alizee is the only pop I can stand listening nowadays.
Greek music scene in the past decades has produced some incredible gems with composers like Θεοδωρακης, Ξαρχακος, Χατζιδακης, Λοιζος.etc. If you like rock I would recommend "Τρυπες" , probably the best greek band of the 90s. They are far from easy going pop/rock though and maybe not for all tastes. Here is one of my favourite greek songs back from the 80s. (Alexiou/Loizos) |
