I would also like to point out one statement that was made in the letter:

"We will understand if you can't or choose not to perform in the USA at this time, but we would still like to help in any way we can to increase your sales and popularity."

That statement was put in the letter for a reason. It was known that Alizée may not want to, or be able to come to the US at this time, if ever. The letter is an offer of support to Alizée, with no strings attached, from the people who chose to sign it. It is meant to create an atmosphere of unconditional goodwill between Alizée and her American fans. I hope no one expects this one letter to change the world, but hopefully actions like this can help to open the door a bit wider. I think Mon Maquis has shown that Alizée is one hard nut to crack.

So yes, your are right. They are 2 completely different things.

You're missing the point, which is that you are drawing totally unwarranted conclusions from the fact that Alizée isn't doing a TV show here in January when, at least from the station's point of view, she could.

Look, something seriously off-key happened about the time the concert was canceled in Paris. I don't know for certain what, but we're told that the entire management team was replaced. And now we see that she's doing a new album with a completely different style of music and different people working with her.

In short, there has been a huge shake-up at Team A. She is not in the same place at this point as Melissa Mars. The timing is wrong. She is not going to be doing any shows in France in January, let alone the U.S. If they made the same offer six months later, it might be a completely different story.

You seem to be approaching this situation as if she were rolling along doing shows all over the world, was approached by a U.S. station and, for no reason anyone can see, snubbed it. That's not the case.

I don't know whether she wants to break into the U.S. market or not. But I do know that this show indicates nothing about that one way or the other. If anything, it shows, along with a lot of other evidence, that she's pretty much starting over from scratch at this point.

What last letter? The one she wrote to her Mexican fans?

How do you know it was like pulling teeth? Why do you act like you know everything about Alizee's regard towards her fans/the US?

For what it's worth the show had 2.5 millions viewers so I'd say it was successful..........which leads to what was said in that post
