Little something I threw together. Something I'd like to see for real. Along with many other members, I'm sure.

Well, here's some Alizée that I brought back from Paris. Imagine going to your local Walmart and picking one up. Ok, that sounds crappy even if it did mean she was super popular, so, imagine going to whatever music store still exists where you live. (ok sorry, that was kinda weak, but there aren't any Virgin Megastores near me, nor even a Mixup, it's all like Circuit City and Barnes and Nobel to buy music.)

Sweet poster, but your vicinity to no full-music stores must suck.
I mean Barnes and Noble has some good selections, but you really need some of the more dedicated music stores. There's an Amoeba Records store in San Francisco, that might be a bit of a drive for you, but it's worth it, they have an entire international section, and YES, they do sell Alizée. They have a tear-inducing metal section, where one can find records from Korpiklaani, Moonsorrow, Eluveitie, Ensiferum, amongst many many more. It really was the best music store i've been to, too bad it's based only in California. Ah well, hope I can score a poster similar to that.

I want one...
I was just in there last weekend... I also tend to visit the one in berkeley too. They do have a lot of rare finds in Amoeba records that you normally wouldn't find in any other music stores, which tend to be stripped down to the basic stuff (Mostly new and well known mainstream artists) but even then it can be hard to find what you're looking for if that's what you want. It's sad too see how few music stores still exist out there, and how watered down they are Last edited by Amigo!; 09-14-2008 at 12:22 AM.. |

disk drop/promo materials
Well, maybe there's some stuff I just don't know about. There was the Sacramento Tower Records and I think it was another Tower Records in Citrus Heights when I first moved here. But, yes, what can you say about the record/music industry? Past the heyday.
Hey look, if anyone wants to do a disk drop project or something creating materials at home, these seem to be pretty cheap: CD-Rs: http://www.staples.com/office/suppli...maxell_music_r paper disk sleeves: http://www.buy.com/listing/sellerlis...?sku=205601153 CD labels: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...X0DER&v=glance

Ok, so you know that CD cover that Snatcher42 created for New York ... can someone tell me what that affect is called in GIMP to create that white glow around the letters?

Dunno GIMP. I used Photoshop and there it was layer style --> outer glow, plus some tweaks.

Ok, there's probably an easier way, but ... (like buying photoshop maybe?) So, I should probably put some URL on here. The videos on this site don't work anymore though. I suppose that will eventually get fixed considering what a great asset it is to this site, but in the mean time, where should one be directed? Oh, by the way, I just saw the new ltny.hitart.com page. Cool.
