Militaries are cool.
They protect countries and doesn't afraid of anything. But really, no matter what country you're from, I usually (but not always) honor someone willing to die for it, no matter how radical or idiotic, or glorious and mighty, the country.

well, it actually went down pretty well.
my squad leader came early and gave me his spare PT uniform, so all was good. though, he is a larger dude, so it was extra baggy on me.. im sure i looked quite silly, but oh well! noowww!! off to my first class, FRENCH! can ya guess what ima be listening to on the way there? yup. even i have some sort of grudging respect(acceptance?) of Jihadis... sure, they're wrong() but they sure as heck are dedicated. though i do not in any way agree with their tactics of kidnapping and using civilians as meat shields. cowardly bastards.

Like as said once, there's hardly anymore honor in today's battlefields, it's a fight to kill, not a fight for self-glorification.

i mean, we fight with one of our hands tied behind our backs, and our legs bound together. if we were to fight just as dirty as them, we would win every freaking conflict. EVER. they take a hostage, we take an entire damn town hostage. they kidnap a soldier and demand ransom, we air strike a city. they shoot and hide amongst civilians, artillery strike their location anyways. they blow up and IED, we massacre the town. what im trying to say is, if we just fought as dirty as them, we would do them ten times over. but of course, that's no longer fighting a war, but committing genocide.. and that's not acceptable. im done ranting now.

My day was great, my dads aunts aka my great aunts (I have no grand parents anymore so my great aunts kinda fill that for me ) came over to visit me before I leave for buffalo. We talk an all for the whole time they were over my house. Usually we drop them off at the ferry terminal and thats where they part. Instead we rode the 7:30pm ferry with them to Manhattan and then dropped them off at the W train at the brand new and might I say very beautiful south ferry subway station. After we said good bye to them. After we parted I went to Ground Zero and South Street Sea Port (two places I haven't been to in yrs) I was very pleased with ground zero... it is not "as" depressing as it was just a couple of yrs back, it is looking very nice actually, construction on the World Trade Center memorial and 1 WTC aka "Freedom tower" are showing lots of visible progress. The Freedom Tower's core now rises 150+ feet above street level and still rising with many 70 ton massive steel beams being installed every other day as well as massive concrete pours occurring very frequently. For the memorial it is now possible to see the entire outline of the former North Tower (the first to fall ). It was very emotional for me to be there because I think the last time I was at ground zero was in 2006 (the freedom tower construction didn't start until late 2006 it was supposed to start in 2003-2004 but there was a bunch of financing obstacles, zoning rights, and victims family's approvals to get that took 3 yrs just to get done before construction could even start) when it was still just a big hole with nothing going on... just a mass site for sadness and sorrow, it looked to be like a sad depressed ghost town in the middle of the worlds biggest financial district. At least now it is finally getting busy and booming once again. It was just amazing for me to be there and just see all the change. It is a good change because finally at least "some" of the sickening sadness is being washed away after these long 8 yrs.
As for South Street Sea Port, little has changed since I was last there which I think was in 2003ish and that gives you a good feeling..... it makes you feel like a kid again. Where as remembering pre 9/11 and all the good times one had at the Twin Towers while on current ground zero is almost an impossibility... it is either just too sad and too painful that your mind blocks it out or it just seems like an eternity ago and nothing seems to be as you remembered because everything has changed. Oh and for anyone who is interested, here is a live webcam (it will update very 15min or so) of what the site looks like http://www.earthcam.com/clients/grou...groundZero.swf We walked those two catwalks today, the one on the far left upper corner which goes into the World Financial Center, and then the one on the far right coming out of the World Financial Center parallel to the Freedom Tower construction site.
