The biggest problem with HK's is they pretty much screw up your brass with their blow back gas system. So the bulk junk stuff is all I put through mine.
If your willing to let it run in the tumbler for two days you can reuse the stuff.

Ah I've recently installed a Port Buffer on mine and I was incredibly amazed at how much of a difference it's made. It now damages brass no more than an AR unless of course it hits a tree . Also from what I hear the weld on steal case deflector will do the same thing only it's permanent. I haven't tried the deflector myself however. The brass can still come out a bit dirty however .
RTG has both of them and for the $50 bucks it was worth it as you can't tell you fired the brass out of an HK anymore I'll gladly take pictures of the difference to the brass a little later if you'd like http://www.robertrtg.com/pofport_carry.html http://www.robertrtg.com/hkshelldeflector.html |

We must be talking about two different problems. The brass coming out of mine has carbon scoring from the fluted chamber, the full length of the case.
I set of lines burned into the brass from the mouth to the base of the shell casing. Other than that problem nothing a full length sizing die can't fix.

Indeed there truly is no fix to that problem....well unless you want it to become a single shot . I have however found the cleaner burning powders pretty much take care of it, as much as possible anyway. Still a bit of a pain to clean the brass luckily I don't mind if they don't look the prettiest.
On a side note I just made a six round magazine for it by cutting down a 20 rounder. The thing works flawlessly so far, much better than it worked prior to cutting much of it off including some rather nice sized dents. A buck and 10 minutes well spent (once again happiness for me). |

Really the rules should be revived.
Five rules for Men to follow a happy life. 1.) Hot mates in the amount of the man's choosing. 2.) Guns 3.) Targets to fire at (living or dead or perhaps inanimate) 4.) Other crap to mod a gun with 5.) Infinite Ammunition

2.) Check 3.) Check 4.) Like Lazurs, Bayonets, grenade launchers, extra shell holders, extra cigar holders, chainsaws, electric meat slicers, electric frying pan, cup holder, MP3 jack, rocket launchers, a more guns attachment to your gun so you can carry multiple guns on one gun, and most importantly...... cigarette lighter preferably an unextinguishable Zippo 5.) I suppose one always needs more xD I suppose I am on my way to ultimate happiness that's what I get using surplus ammo and even Winchester Whitebox 7.62X51 which is surplus too I suppose. However when I use my hand loads using IMR 4895 I just get a slim burn mark the size of the flutes on the necking, and after extended shooting maybe a 1/4 inch up the body. I find that acceptable . What I didn't like however was a big dent halfway up the body of the casing caused by hitting the receiver, but since I bought a Port Buffer I have not had one case dented (unless you count the ones hitting the trees ). the ultimate stock just cause you never know when you'll have to dig a hole while shooting stuff
Who needs a stinking Grenade launcher when you have one of these? Don't forget you need your best friend to spot for you and of course... Last edited by jung_adore_ALIZEE; 12-27-2009 at 10:59 AM.. |
