Wow. The people wanna see Lilly DANCE!
(I guess that makes sense, it's been a long time. She should bring that shake back, show the pretenders how it's done) Her milkshake brings even the lactose-intolerant boys to the yard. *snicker* Polls don't lie.

I'd love to see her dance, although not in that way. She's outgrown the lolita and she could probably not pull it off to this day. It's way too much sex-appeal for a 26 year old and I doubt she'll ever return to it. I'd rather see something that's less revealing and provocative, something that she can do with her current style that still expresses strong emotions both of her and of the crowd.

Heyy!! Get that outta here! My doctors say I can't look at that kinda stuff anymore! (Bad heart and everything...) (jkn)
But seriously, I'm past that kind of dancing, and I think Lili is too. (Not that she couldn't still pull it off if she CHOSE to, but really...) I say the odds of her shimmy-shaking again in the future lie somewhere between zero and none. So I'm not knocking anyone for voting for dance music. That may be exactly what the next full-length turns out to be. Or maybe not. But I hope people aren't voting in favor of a visceral thrill. Cause that's not being realistic. Ahem, sorry everyone. _______________________ Personally I voted for the "something else" column, because I only expect anything. But I'd like to rhapsodically wax nostalgic for a few moments about my favorite album so far, Psychédélices. If you haven't voted yet, consider this option. I mean, come on, folks! "Par Les Paupieres" is on there! And "Fifty-Sixty", people! "Taxi Driver". Oh yeah, and "Mademoiselle Juliet", everybody! The soaring heights and sorrowful depths of "Idéaliser"! Effing "Lillytown"! "Décollage"! "L'Effet". And the killer title track! And a lot of those tracks WERE definitely dance music, too. Plus a great variety of stuff! And she showed off her voice, in every song! (with UEDS, as it seemed to me, she wasn't showing off at all, in ANY way.) So to sum up, I think a return to something similar to Psychédélices would be really very nice. Just that I'm not counting on that to happen, but boy, I think it would be extra nice. Still, she could even do Nashville-style country music and I bet we'd all still love it. @ Corsaire : Si tu ever achètes un autre album in your entire vie, the very prochain one should be Psychédélices, that's mon avis, mon ami ! (and my keyboard is Québeçois, aussi, btw. I can't seem to control it.) |

More importantly, I think so has she. Alizée dancing doesn't mean as much to me as it clearly does to some people here. For me, #1 priority is the quality of the music, and for me I don't think her music has ever been as high quality since the first two albums. It's just true - lyrical complexity, musical complexity, catchy beats, outstanding vocals - it was all there and I don't think it's ever 'all been there' in such force since Gourmandises and MCE. In *some* songs of Psych and UEDS the overall quality of the music equals that of the first two albums, but as whole albums, they just don't cut it when compared to the first two.
SO what would I like to hear in the future? As much as I'd like to hear something similar to the Mymy / Laurent produced tracks, I don't think anything will quite be able to equal them when it comes to the perfect pop song. It's been done to perfection once - time to move on. That's why I think rock-pop would be great. It's different from anything she's done before but not SO different it will fail to win popularity in terms of sales / charts (possibly what went wrong with UEDS). You see a lot of rock-pop in the charts nowadays - Alizée could capitalise from that. ALSO to make the album really work she needs to find a producer who is perfect for the job (as Mymy and Laurent were back in the day). One thing that really stands out for me in those early albums in terms of production is the excellent musical and lyrical complexion and depth - if she can achieve something of similar brilliance only in a different genre, she could really be onto a winner. The place where Psych and UEDS fell down is that the production wasn't as consistently good as in Gourmandises and MCE - in some places it worked really well, while in others it seemed a little ameteurish and not up to scratch. That's why an experienced produce who knows what he / she is doing is a MUST. Wow a lot of typing to do on a phone - I think my fingers need a sleep Last edited by babyblue558; 01-19-2011 at 07:05 PM.. |

Why did you edit and changed to that GIF instead of the first one? I don't see her face anymore.
Anyway, I voted for "Psych style (A mix of styles)". |
