Queen of pop
If they call Michael Jackson the King of Pop, then who would be the Queen of Pop?
Alizee, Miley, Madonna, Priscilla, ....... |

Alizée?
Nah, try again later when she's known outside more than two countries and a website.

They don't call them "queens of Pop" ... they are called Divas... and there are no reigning Diva's that stand out from all of the others.
Mariah Carey is arguably in the lead with the most album releases, record sales and #1 singles and the closest one to surpassing Elvis Prestly and the Beatles...

According to Rolling Stones Taylor Swift is "technically" the current Queen. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne...f-pop-20110629
Madonna will always be the TRUE Queen of Pop, though.

However, going by the theme of being the "top selling female artist" of all time, It appears that Barbara Streisand is currently in the lead by about 6 million units... Madonna is second with 64 million and Mariah Carey is a very close third at 63.5 million. But since Barbara is not Pop ...the current reigning Queen would be Madonna. Also note that there are a few artists ahead of Michael Jackson but they are not Pop, such as Elton John, Garth Brooks, and Elvis Presley. And, of course, there are also bands, such as the #1 champion, The Beatles. Here is a quick glance of some of the top ladies: 70.1 Barbara Streisand 64.0 Madonna 63.5 Mariah Carey 55.0 Whitney Houston 50.0 Celine Dion 48.0 Shania Twain 41.0 Reba Mc Entire 33.0 Britney Spears ... skipping down ... 14.0 Taylor Swift Although judging by units appears to be fair because it does not descriminate on sales by dollar value over time, the results are still skewed by population. To put things in perspective, Paula Abdul is at 11.5, Jennifer Lopez 11, and Avril Lavigne is at 10.25 million units, however the population has greatly increased since the 1980's to 2000's and more people = more units. If Paula Abdul's album was as big as it was in the 80's right now, she would have millions more units sold because of the increase in population. Another example, Olivia Newton John is a bonified diva of her time but she only matches Taylor Swift at 14 million units while Christina Aguilara surpases them both at 14.5 and Alicia Keys at 15 million. Alicia Keys may be an exception because she has won as many as 5 grammy's in a single award ceremony with many more nominations... but Christina Aguilara and Taylor Swift have not been around long enough to be mentioned along side the likes of Olivia Newton John even though their success rate matches... but again, it's the population increase. If there were a baby booming population in the next 10 years Justin Bieber can be compared to Michael Jackson. Chicago and 2pac are both tied at 38.5 ... which I find hilarious because my mother's favorite band is Chicago and she plays all of there CD's like there is no tomorrow and I grew up doing the same with 2pac.
