To any guys out there that haven't decided on a college major yet, I heavily suggest anything animal related.

I'm an animal science major with a pre-vet focus, and it's working out great. I don't mean that classes are easy, but the fact that I'm a guy really helps. Roughly 85% of my classmates are white females, and being an Asian guy, it makes me very competitive.

The past 4 positions I've applied for, I've gotten them all, and when I got there, I realize it's because nearly every other student was a girl. I was a TA last semester, there were 7 of us, 5 were girls. I landed a position at the Large Animal Intensive Care Unit, 15 were accepted, 13 were girls. Last year, I applied for a position as a undergraduate research assistant, 5 were accepted, 4 were girls. Most recently, I got a internship with the humane society, 9 were accepted, and 8 of them are girls.

I'd like to think that I got these positions because I'm so smart and full of awesome.. but I think other factors might have played a role.

Just some food for thought.

The good thing about any field medical related is there is usually always a job ... especially with this job market!
