At the midnight release of Revelations I was talking to these guys about where the series could go. I was really hoping for a game taking place during the French Revolution, but we all later agreed that the American Revolution was most likely, and that the story would be colonization of the new world being a Templar effort and the revolution would be an Assassin-led counterattack. I was really expecting the protagonist to be black, though. I could see him being the ol' slave child, father killed and mother sold away, he escapes and joins the Assassin cause... but I suppose a Native American works just as well. Maybe better, an former slave Assassin could possibly be too similar to Ezio in regards to his goals of "vengeance." I'll send you a complete timeline later, starting from Adam and Eve to Dec 21. (That's not a joke. It really starts with Adam and Eve, the first Assassins. Pretty odd that the first Assassins gave birth to Cain, the first Templar, eh?) I don't. Ever.

I must say, I didn't exactly get as hot and bothered from the E3 trailer as I was hoping to.
The quality of the trailer was outstanding, as it has been since ACII, but I felt it didn't really show anything we haven't already seen in the past teasers.

When your demo doesn't even work.....you know you have a problem. I did like during G4s coverage, Xibit (or however you spell it) was in the crowd. They pulled him out and talked to him a bit. I'm waiting for the "yo dawg I heard you like gaming exhibits. So we put some gamer Xibit in yo gaming exhibits" meme to pop up somewheres. I think next years E3 will be interesting. During an interview today, one person said "if Sony and Microsoft won't announce their new console the game developers will do it for them." And it's so true. Some of the games shown this year, are beyond pushing what this current gen systems can do. For example, Watch Dogs. During The press conference, the game demo was run on a super high end PC, not an existing console. I highly doubt that Watch Dogs would run that smoothly, crisply, and beautifully on an Xbox. I just don't think I can happen. Even a PS3 would be close to the point of bursting into flames. I think the next gen systems are done, and ready to go. I just think Sony and Microsoft don't know when to release them. But The common response to this years E3, is that gamers are ready for whats next.

The long transition between consoles is a pretty bad time to expect any quality from the games.
Last time instead of immediately getting a ps3 or 360 I built my own gaming PC and it was such a good decision. If you are also planning on doing processor heavy multimedia production it's a no brainer. Now that the console situation is repeating I'm considering doing the same thing again, except I don't have to spend as much since I'll be hooking it up to my home theater I've been perfecting over the time I've had my ps3. |

How much did that run you? I've been thinking about doing that for a while but I'm curious as to whether it's 100% worth it

Considering most people get Move and Kinect with their consoles plus a bunch of games it's not that much more. The guys I see on psn are playing a different game every 2 weeks so whether they are getting new or used it adds up but they don't realize it. You can pirate any multimedia software/operating system if you have the programs to bypass the keycodes so your only expenses should be online games which have far better graphics than consoles without the limitations such as amount of players and communication. I'd say it depends on how long you expect to use it or if you plan/know how to upgrade it. I don't really like upgrading certain parts like a gfx card which means also getting a new power supply then more cooling and it defeats the point. I like the invest in a car (for at least 20% off) and pass it down to your kids when it's too old philosophy. For you and I imagine most people it would make more sense to get a juiced laptop but that is a lot harder to do. Things are a lot better with Amazon these days though. |
