Wow. I must have missed the announcement. And I try so hard to follow everything. sigh.
I starting to think soon doesn't mean the same thing to Sony as it does to us. another sigh. |

Well the timing is very important. You don't want it released too soon. I think if she released it now, people who really enjoy it, might lose some of their enthusiasm for buying the album in a months time. I think the perfect timing would be from 2 to 3 weeks before the album is released. So hang in there. It's coming!

They need to speed it up a little. Most artists would already have teasers out for a new single at this point. Take SHY'M, for example. They released her newest single, On se fout de nous, on Youtube on August 17th, and the video was released August 22nd. Her single before that, Et Alors! was released on May 3rd with a video up by June 1st.
I dunno, it just seems like Alizee's album is not a top priority to Sony. |

I don't think it's a case of it not being a top priority with Sony as much as I think they want to make sure it's right. Someone like Mylene Farmer has such a great track record in France that she could throw an album out there with a bunch of mush on it with no promotion and it would sell, until word got around. But in France, Alizee, on her own, does not have much of a track record, at least not a successful one so at a level of a quality of an album that would sell for MF, might not sell for Alizee. So as I've said before, they will take the time to make sure this one is right.
With the first song that was released of this new album, I thought the beginning wasn't very good, but the last half was very good. I also thought that what Karin did with the video she posted was great. If you threw a little Alizee into it, I think that could've sold. I"m sure Sony payed attention to fans reaction to that song and they will rework the beginning. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the release date changed, but it will be worth the wait. |

I so hope you're right about that because that track is chock full of timing errors as it stands and it really does make me wonder if anyone involved with it really cares? The lead guitar at the start is at least half a beat behind everything else and that doesn't help to get the song off the ground. I find it astonishing that Sony could release it in its current state. I've heard better sounding demo tapes done in people's bedrooms! Many years ago I worked in a recording studio in London, long before the 'digital revolution', when we had to close-edit tapes using a razor blade and splicing tape using the playback head as a locator for the spot - and we got it right. It's actually not that difficult. Drop-ins were done by ear, in real time, by pushing a button on the desk. It worked. These days there is absolutely no excuse for timing errors when everything can also be done visually on a sequencer on a PC or Mac. I'm actually quite angry about just how poorly produced this single is. I'm just praying that the new album is mixed and produced by someone who gives a s**t?
