Of course!

The "over-manufactured" part is nonsense, of course, and as for the "pop-tart" part, whether it's an insult or a compliment depends on who it's coming from. If I were to call a singer a pop-tart, it would mean she was vulgar, and blatantly exploiting her sexuality for money. If certain other people use that expression, however, it only means that she's sexy, because they can't tell the difference.

Edit: Just in case there's any doubt about it, I would not call Alizée at her sexiest a "pop-tart." Hell, I wouldn't even call Mylène or Madonna a pop-tart. Britney Spears or Christina Aguillera, yes.

(The French part is true. There are some people who consider that an insult, I suppose.)

lol ALL music these days is "over-manufactured", its just the way of the industry.

Remember how young she was in the MF years. They had reason to hold her hand quite a bit and would have been a bit irresponsible to not have done it. But she is all grown up and on her own now, so I think we can finally begin to see the end to that type of criticism.

Wow... my first thread revived! It's interesing to return to the topic of my first post now that I've been around awhile.

To answer your question, perhaps I should have said 'don't want to' instead of 'can't.' I have watched the JEAM videos a few times since that post, so I can watch them but I don't find myself choosing to very often. I don't mean what I said in a negative way if that's how it reads... focus on my comments about Alizée and ACC -after- I saw the light. {hand over heart, sigh} So why don't I choose to watch JEAM much anymore? Well, for one, I don't like the song as much as I used to, and two, I'm spending the time watching all the other videos.

The criticism I was referring too was the 'over-manufactured French pop tart' phrase and the experiences referenced in the classic Do any of you guys feel weird listening to Alizee? thread.

I am simply not the sort who joins fan sites. Back when I joined I wondered what in the world was going on. "Me? Fan site? What?" But I'm here. That says something. About what or who? Alizée of course. That is what I was trying to drive at in my first post.

Yes indeed. Have you ever noticed that tempo of A Contre Courant (for example) seems so slow and hypnotic when you are anxious or tired and rather quick and upbeat when you are not? That is how things are for me. If anxiety means my brain is in high RPM then that makes sense, but if I'm tired? I don't understand it.

KEWL! Good handle, and i understand your feelings there, although i don't share them entirely. Depends on my mood as to which video's i watch... I like ACC and L'important C'est D'aimer entirely too much!

Jeam is one i watch on occasion, when i'm in the right mood. Now Stars 2003 is a video i watch (in parts) almost weekly!

Ed

P.S. - thanks for clearing that up for me!
