Alizée and the U.S. political climate

I find it amusing how folks like to call for a thread to be closed for reason X, but only if they get to have the last say on reason X.

Back on topic a bit. I believe we read too much into Alizée's reason for not coming to America for us. In the current climate (our relationships with the rest of the free world is not as bad as the press likes to make out), I believe market forces will pretty much overwhelm the political noise we are currently experiencing. She may come here for herself*, to enjoy some of the great things we have to offer in America, in the same way one of us would go to France to enjoy the great things the French have to offer. But to come here to perform for us? Where is the market? You don't create a market by showing up. You show up to meet the market demand. I don't see it. Not here in America. Not at the volume needed to justify the planning, expense, and effort.

Bottom Line: It's the market, not politics.

She said in one of her interviews that there were too many sharks in this country and there are a lot of sharks here but there's also a lot of good people here who would love to see her perform in this country. I think it's very disappointing that the only part of this country that's she's seen is Las Vegas. Maybe that has something to do with it. If you want to bring someone as beautiful as her to our country, why would you start off with Las Vegas. The grand canyon isn't that far away and there are so many beautiful parts of our country in that area but no, she had to go to Las Vegas. We helped them out so much during world war 1 and 2 and they helped us out so much during our war of independence, you would think America or at least Canada would be one of her places she would want to visit in her tour outside of Europe. Maybe someone in her family, or maybe Mylene or Laurent's criticism of the U.S. was why she has never come here. I really would like to know.

Actually, I think it has nothing to do with politics. Alizee said it herself that the U.S. is full of "sharks" as a reason for not coming here, meaning that, she has the impression that the U.S. music industry is full of unscrupulous businessman, and she does not like to operate in that kind of environment. But I think recently she is more open to doing concerts where she traditionally would not, I think she could a concert in the U.S., but that scenario is highly unlikely.
