No thats not true at all. You assume royalties are automatic. Royalties are not automatic they are contractual.

If 15 yo Alizee and her Ajaccio parents did not agree to a good contract she gets squat. You know how many famous artists get 0 for their work?

Michael Jackson owns the rights to much of the beatles. Was jackson a beatle? why does he have them? contracts.

Alizee gets 0 from tout. Alizee may not even be allowed to perform her old songs without consent by the record label. The record label often owns the songs.

For instance "reproduction is not allowed without the express consent of the NFL". Does tony roma own rights to publish the cowboys or show his own games?? NO. So goes the music industry. Sometimes the artist own their own rights but usually not.

"Alizée's former music label, Universal Music released a compilation ablum, titled "Tout Alizée".[39] "
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aliz%C3...cotey#_note-23 citing Mixup Music Store: Tout Alizée. Retrieved on [[2008-01-17]].

Yes im sure her current music label wanted a competing album out with her return after many years.

Im telling you, mark my words, Alizee took a vacation to wait out whatever contract she was under.

I have to agree there unfortiently contracts are really corrupting and destroying aswell as unfair in many ways as the one to sign often have to agree on stuff that later on comes to be inconvinient.

Well they made fun of her in that interview on TV a few weeks ago. I think it was...à la Methode Cauet - L'interview. Which was funny actually.
