I'm pretty sure that look is for the film "Legends of the Fall." It was about the Montana frontier, though Brad Pitt's character is technically homeless during the course of the movie when he travels the world.

I didn't know about the movie, so I made some research...the beard is from 2002, and the movie you said is from 1994. And by the poster I saw, he has a very short beard there compared to this long one from 2002. I think that the beard was more of a change of look, not to make a movie. Hope it doesn't sound like if I was a smartass.

No prob, and thanks for the input. He does grow a longer beard in that movie that's not on the poster, though.

Anyway, your research made me want to do my own, and the beard was actually grown for the movie "The Fountain" which was supposed to be made in 2002, but then he dropped out to play in "Troy." "The Fountain" was finally made a few years later, but with Hugh Jackman instead.
