Every contract is different for each artist.

I will say one thing..."Tout"...did you see Alizée pushing the sales of this album? No...

Soooo if she is not pushing for sales, its not making her any money.

I work with 2 French artists and they do not do it the way you guys talk about. Its completely different...

So what ever your saying is just a guess.

Yes, "Tout" is an interesting case. I believe it was released by Universal in Mexico to profit from her popularity that existed there at the time. Since Alizée had gotten out of her arrangement with Universal, and she had an agreement with one of their competitors, Sony/BMG (at the time) for "Psych", it most likely would have not been allowed for her to promote a product by a competitor.
