"Hey, we are Americans and we can do what we want." I perfer not to be inconsiderate, and I had hoped that, when I made the request, TGA_Ross would feel the same way.

Oh, come on, lighten up. It's no more unreasonable than the pic of the Irish drinking in the flood. Both statements about both nationalities are generalizations not true of everyone who lives there, but with enough truth to them to be funny.

I'm going to assume that most Americans who visit this forum are not ignorant of the rest of the world. Doesn't it bother you that so many of your countrymen are? Just take the joke as being at the expense of those guys, not of you.

I agree. The fact it was posted by one of your own on an American site dedicated to a fairly obscure (to some people ) French artist gives it self-depricating irony.

Much like the Scots saying the Irish are drunks, now that's ironic.

I agree. The graphic did not bother me (other than as you described). In a way, I wish I could just laugh at the obvious humor in it. However, as I work with people from over 30 countries, over time my radar for what could potentially be offensive to others has probably become very sensitive.

I wonder if Alizee would consider it to be funny?

Meanwhile, I tried to upload an image but bumped into what seems to be a 20k barrier. Are people uploading images or storing them on hosted image sites?

I don't know. I found it funny. Although a similar (and better constructed) world map from the 1980s and called "The World According to Ronald Reagan" was actually funnier. Hmm, let me do a search and see if I can find a "World According to Bush."

Bah, forgot all about the 2004 documentary with that name. That was too serious to be funny. Oh well.
