Welcome to 2008...
Where Jonas Brothers roam and any guy who plays an open guitar chord would get a girlfriend.

One thing i've always had in my mind for nearly a decade.
If I could either destroy all traces of modern rap, or have Alizée as a wife, which would I choose.

I chose a long time ago that i'd rather wipe out all traces of modern rap...

but if you listen to the lyrics this song is the repudiation of commercialized rap

the song is about love w/o the overt superficiality and commodification so prevalent in modern rap - the repudiation of conspicious consumption as a means of expressing one's identity

hence the songs title "The Way I Are"
and it's also fun to dance too
i think Timbaland has taken rap and hip hop in a new and better direction
his music is innovative and goes against the current of Soulja Boy crap

well anyway enough preaching
if you like classic rap/hip hop then here's a classic from 1992
64,000 dollar question of the night - who directed this video?

I respect Timbaland as a DJ
And quite frankly "The Way I Are" is quite, "Daft Punk-ish"
Which is why I thoroughly do not hate it as much as Soulja Boy (I would lose my leg if he would lose his).

But still, the taint of the modern rap genre is a thin string for me, as for your video pasted above...

I cannot say I necessarily like it, nor hate it, but it is way more classic and original than what rappers produce today..

I love prog rock. Here's Neal Morse from his "Testimony" tour. Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater is on the drums and he is incredible.

"The Land of Beginning Again"

Woot!
Someone who gets me!
You know, Neal Morse had a speaking vocal part in Dream Theater's song "Repentance", along with Jon Anderson from Yes, Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, etc. etc.

Anyways nice videos, i'm still watching the second and third, hehe.
