It's rare that a film affects me so profoundly

Movies tend to have "right this moment" effects on me (if it's sad enough I cry) but the only movies that have really stuck with me are Pan's Labyrinth, Requiem for a Dream, Donnie Darko, and Precious.

"right this moment"?

For me,

- El Laberinto del Fauno (spanish, wimminz)
- The Blue Lagoon
- Return to the Blue Lagoon
- The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
- The Lord of the Rings trilogy

that's pretty much what I can think of right now

"Right this moment" = "I feel a huge rush of emotion right now, but it's not really going to linger or anything afterwards".

OH and the Where the Wild Things Are movie should have been on that list I made up thar. It was prolly just nostalgia though, considering that WTWTA was the first book I ever learned to read and all

I don't remember the exact title of the first book (that I learned to read from) was... I just remember one fucking page that always gave me a hard time.

The picture was of some guy standing next to a wooden cart, holding a wooden sign, and of the one sentence of that page I could not figure out "very"

Kinda wish I knew what book you were talking about, sounds like quite an enthralling read.

Were you also reading books like Lord of the Flies and The Hobbit at like, age eleven? Or am I just weird?

I bought the audiobook to lord of the flies like... four years ago

still have yet to listen past chapter one.

and yes, you're kinda weird.

I don't read books like normal people do. I read books when I find something about them, find a certain quality one has, and seek it out.

It's okay, you're weird too.

I'm especially interested in books that have some sort of controversy about them, like it was banned from a certain country or it's hailed as the most morally challenging book ever or something like that. Like, Animal Farm or Go Ask Alice or The Road.

Yep.

Half the reason I read Lolita was because my AP art history teacher was so repulsed, and almost angry that I had even thought about reading it
