I don't understand why Lolita is always seen as immoral and wrong. It especially makes me angry when people say it "condones pedophilia," because you know they didn't bother to read the whole book, or maybe not any of it. If they had, they wouldn't say that.

I think it's just a greater compliment to Nabokov. His goal with his use of the language was to get us readers to understand him, believe him, and perhaps even agree with him.

The character was okay with it, the diction was okay it with, and it pretty much made us okay with it (otherwise, no one would have ever finished it)

Backstory:

I seriously don't say this about a lot of people, but this girl is a terrible person. She's snobbish, rude, vain, and hostile. She doesn't go to my school, so thankfully I don't have to see her insult people on a regular basis. Last month, she stole one of my best friends' boyfriends and pretty much humiliated her in front of a lot of people, then broke up with him and said the whole thing was just because she "didn't like" my friend. We're supposedly "cool with eachother" because I've always been kind to her anyways, but after the boyfriend-stealing fiasco I pretty much ignore her. She always flatters herself with comments about how she's "so much better-looking than that girl" or "her boyfriend could do so much better, liiiiiike.. me!" She's really pretty, yes, but her personality makes her hideous.

ANYWAYS

I just saw this image and the caption and it just made me very angry. I'm so.. so.. so tempted to comment on the picture and tell her how badly photoshopped it is, and that she's pathetic for making it, but I know I shouldn't.
