I think WavePad Sound Editor can convert aif to mp3. It's not free but there is a trial version that you can use.

Uhm...

Is "How you doing?" just a way of saying "Hello" in USA instead of really asking how you are doing/how you are?

Kinda. Kind of like how "What's up?" is a way of greeting as well. The question "What's up?" is often answered with another "What's up?" and then the people will just go on with a conversation. Phrases like "What's up?", "How you doing?", "What's going on?", etc. are more or less just a common way to greet someone to get a conversation going. I guess one could say that a common greeting such as "How you doing?" is just a good place to start a conversation. When asked something like "How you doing?" though, most people just give a quick "Good" or "I'm alright" followed by a return of the question by asking the other person "and how are you doing?".

Here is a typical conversation in which the phrase "How you doing?" may be used:

PersonA - How you doing?
PersonB - I'm alright. How you doing?
PersonA - Not bad. Been getting ready for the Call of Duty party this weekend.
PersonB - Sweet, man! Over at PersonC's place?
PersonA - Yeah.
PersonB - Mind if I get a ride there?
PersonA - Sure, bro.

Now a conversation has begun and they go on about whipping noob ass at the Call of Duty party.

Thank you very much for the explanation.

I got the feeling that I might have said something wrong for a couple of reasons during some online conversations I've had but it turns out I was kind of right... that's weird... anyway, thanks a lot!

kinda, it's a more friendly and polite form of "hello"

The asker doesn't expect a response, and the answerer rarely responds with anything more than "good" or "fine".

Both people talking know that the person asking doesn't really care how they're doing, but it's just a nice thing to hear
