Anyways...

Here are two suggestions:

1) "Pierre" on youtube.

There are numerous French instructors on youtube, but Pierre is unique in that his videos are in French--- he teaches French in French. There are English (as well as French) captions to help you along.

Search "Francais Pierre" on youtube.

2) "Hacking French" (book)

The book is sort of a crash-course in French. Its an interesting book.

Edit:

Try Pierre. He talks to you in French, and there are French and English captions.
Huh, I didn't really think about using YouTube as a learning tool for it.

There is one in my city that appears to be active, their website isn't working at the moment but they have a Facebook page. Hopefully something I'll remember to get in touch with but before then I'll need to at least learn the basics.

Thanks to both of you for the suggestions!

Well I had another talk with the careers counsellor and she's advised I not bother going through with French as the school doesn't recommend doing foundation subjects as co-ops at another school.

Because of this, and the fact that other schools have slightly different timetables for subject lines, I've made the decision not to go through with learning French as a school subject.

Regardless, thank you everyone for your contribution to the thread! Perhaps in the future I'll consider picking the language up in some other form, for now though the plans to do so at school are off.
