Another point i'd have to bring out. I've listened to a lot of other French music acts since Alizée, and I can say I am really much unattracted to any of them.

So something has to be special about this little Corsican queen. She, can entrance, I, one of the most pickiest of ears, I feel bewitched, a slight uneasiness as I tread onto her realm as I have been so enveloped by the shadows of my musical genre, the shadows I so take comfort in, the dreaded distortion of an amplified guitar, the infernal speed of a booming drum, and the ever powerful growl from the voice of one that anyone can label as a demon or a god.

Simple, she has a trait that others do not. She has an oscillating aura, whether it be divine or not. It entrances us, it brings us in, and it traps us, she is a siren of the rocks, who lures us in, with a captivating sound. If she was one of those sirens in which Odysseus had sailed past, then our poor Ithican hero would not have made it back to his wife, not soon, not ever, Alizée is just like that.

Magic? Perhaps, or is it some sort of chemistry in which we find from her, a diamond in the rough, whilst we search our worlds with young females calling their friends "whore" and "bitch", and the ever-supposed media attentive role-models spewed from networks of corrupted merchandise and profit, we find a special light, similar to the beauty we all seek, and this is incarnated as our lovely Alizée, in which she is gifted with more than just the talent of voice and face.

Her eclectic spell, which calls us to bear arms, to lighten our lives, brighten our souls, and such, is very much puzzling. She, may command legions with the point of a finger, she is the Creator's gift to one and torment for the rest. Though she is any human, much like any of us, it is something, that we find in her imperfections, in which we build a sacred temple, to house the undeniable quality that she shows. Her...light...and whatnot, brings a smile to many, ask why not the rest? One can be as similar to Alizée as faith allows it, voice, looks, and whatever, but it is our love for this vixen that allows us to see, that Alizée really is, one of the most precious human beings alive.

She is not perfect, she's just a girl, anyone can say this to themselves, but the more they do, the more they may be driven into the frayed ends of sanity, just know that Alizée is a gift, she is no ordinary being, anyone who takes a first glimpse at her may think so, but there is no escaping the hunter, when you're already hooked.

Alizée, is all that brings a certain few of us here...to live better...or at all...

Barrett you said it best. Powerfully true words about our Alizee! This post reminds me of the poem/song I wrote so please indulge me as it is about the very quandaries spoken here and by Alizee fans.
A LOVE SONG FOR THE AGES
I don't know where to begin or how this song's going to end
A love song for the ages
The kind of love spoken by sages
A song I'm compelled to send
An iconic love described on these pages
That few experience refusing to bend
An all encompassing force to which there is no end
Defies logic and even harder to explain
My heart swells and shudders with a welcome pain
Regardless of clouds, sunshine or rain
When I think of you Alizee
Oh I must give a countenance of my love for thee
The kind of love many will flee
More questions than answers is this purple haze
Psychedelic to my senses you do raise
Like the taste of a very fine wine
Champagne of the most delectable kind
You bring out the Pepe Le' Pew in me
That spark that fires my heart you see
You make me want to shout with such energy
Woman what you do to me
I will scream from any hilltop
This feeling that I cannot stop
I love you Alizee
A love song for the ages
There are those that say your wiles are impossible to resist on that I must insist
That you're the very reason for them to exist
Though it's an exaggeration your so indescribably delectable and much more than an infatuation
Your the Siren song described in the ancient travels of Homer
Some would accuse me of being drunk though I'm completely sober
The kind of love that tries men's souls
That can keep you beaten, tattered with holes
Such a charismatic presence that has started and ended wars
Rocks me to my very core
Makes me sensitive to my own vanity
Questioning my very sanity
Feeling vulnerable in my humanity
I love you Alizee
Having my lungs full of oxygen still unable to breath
Tears in my eyes makes it hard to see
An Unquenchable thirst that's impossible to believe
Astounded and amazed at the lack of reprieve
Under these conditions comes little relief and many attempts to deceive
Not only you but me
the kind of spirit that compels artists to paint
That fills a void making me feel faint
An affront to any discipline little or no restraint
God knows I am no saint
I love you Alizee
That beautiful dark hair mesmerized when you dance
Empires have been built and lost under such a trance
Not by choice, chance or happenstance
On many you have left your mark
I dare say in the spirit of Joan of Arc
Men have cried out for such pain to subside
Has driven some to suicide
Damn the cynics, Jekyls and Hydes
I have never felt so alive
Sometimes it's like a boat at anchor that's impossible to row
Definitely an opportunity to grow
I love you Alizee
Like with all things that I will abide
Love and life have many aside
Your the wind in my vessell, sails are full and will never subside
An ultimate passion I refuse to hide
though many times I have tried
Tradewind of love that I choose to ride
My affection for you I announce with pride
I will always be on your side
Fully committed to take in stride
I love you Alizee
A love song for the ages I say

Great poem, it's quite lovely in many manners easily caught through the eyes of few, but I will not ask where ^that^ came from...
'scuse me.

Thought this might be handy since the subject of poetry has been brought up. My trilogy, The Wretched and the Light.

However sweet your melody haunts
A deathly shade forever lost
I'm cursed with darkness
You blessed with light
A memory serves for wrong and for right
I wait here chained
You walk in ease
You're forever warm and i'm doomed to freeze
I require to see
If only a hint of bliss
Your eyes or your voice
Brings the shade to rejoice
Upon his hateful corpse
Or his dark frayed soul
Forever in harmonial happiness stands
Forever the peace in me never resides
Upon the nonexistant touch of your hand
I shall never die until you stand by my side
Until then the shadow remains
Watching and Waiting
As you, the blessed
Shine in the world beyond me
The songbird sings in the dawn of morn
The faithful man, he sits and stares
The songbird sings with zeal forlorn
And the man is entranced by the voice mysterious
Forever the songbird sings and flies
Forever the man watches and sighs
He follows the songbird through her journeys around
The great large world, just to hear the sound
Of the songbird's voice, each time another
He is entranced by the songbird's fervor
The man cares not, for material things
But to enjoy natural beauty
Such as that of our songbird
Is the priceless cost, that should always be paid
Abandon your sword, your shield, and your worries
And hear the songbird, sing her song
For all the world to hear
For enemies to fear
For all mankind, to forever Revere.
A bright summer day
Is the fear of the frayed
Your realm is much strange
To the heart of this stranger
Who patiently strides
Amongst darkest of nights
Awaiting the light
That shines zealously bright
A lady amongst
the wretches and slaves
She gives them her hand
And with the other she waves
Her windswept hair
Move like leaves in the fall
Her kind eyes meet ours
We turn our heads in fear and cower
The lady sings kindly
As we turn our heads
From the cowering state
To meet our own dread
We see a small lady
Yet presence so great
And the wretches and slaves
Defy their cursed fate
And they rose to form men
not wretches not slaves
But brave, willing men
Not wretched, not pained
The strength of this lady
In all her fairness
Finds the most lost of souls
Soothes the most pained
And breathes life unto millions
In all her fairness
the unknown strength of one lady

Alizee's new album of course and a little nostalgic Jimmy Hendrix reference to one of his songs. I'm sure you don't know of which I am referring . Ha! Ha! I didn't quote words from one of her songs did I? If I did it was purely by accident. I also know how much Alizee likes purple. It just fits the psychedelic acid rock theme.

I really like this poem. Definitely has that English flare.

I hope that was sarcasm, but if you think a guitarist doesn't know the entire songlist of Jimi Hendrix's career, then I pity you!

But yeah I totally catch your reference.

I resemble that remark! Yes of course I was being sarcastic. I am sure that you know the Jimmy Hendrix experience. Not that I have ever dropped any purple microdot. I wasn't sure if you were saying that I plaisurized those lines or exactly what you were referencing. It could have been a number of things as I tend to analyze everything with my imagination.

I'm in the poetry mood! I have one more short one that speaks to this post. I shared on another post.
LOVELY ALIZEE

She has the face of an angel and a voice so heavenly
Moves with poise and such delicacy

Beautiful from every angle sheer ecstasy
Sweet as candy with a smile that makes me melt
Those brown eyes glisten with an intelligent gaze emitting feeling beyond that which can be felt
Every song she sings never ceases to amaze
With such vulnerability, tenderness and grace
I have to love her from afar as I have no choice
She a daughter of France and I a son of the USA
Though I never fail to rejoice
When I think of her My eyes become moist
Not from sadness, desire, or choice
Nor even about romance
She has the heart and playfulness of a dolphin and the courage of a lioness obvious from just one glance
It's a plutonic love you see
Quite ironicall discovered while on my PC
I pray for peace, health and prosperity
Jeremy, Annily and lovely Alizee

I sent this one to Alizee, but no response to date. Not really surprised. She probably gets thousands of e-mails. Hope I haven't bored yall to death.

Sorry Tomtenp this post took on a life of it's own although it pertains to what you were asking. I went back and read your questions when you started this post. I don't think anyone has a definitive answer about the attraction to Alizee other than the obvious. Her character, physical beauty, her charisma, her charm, very genuine, talented singer and entertainer. I'm as stumped as you are as to what exactly it is that she has or is that gets her this much attention. I listen to all kinds of music from Rock to the Blues, to Jazz to some Bluegrass and country. Most pop singers I can take with a grain of salt. Most of the pop singers in the US I have little respect for as people and like on the same level that I liked Disco. I'm a rock purest and Disco sucks! in my opinion. Disco and rap is to music as the etcha sketch is to art. Alizee is lightyears above all that in talent and all of the other stuff I already mentioned. She is the iconic perfect woman even though she is just a human and sparks something deep inside that touches the human psyche and especially males subconsciously and consciously. Males are very visual anyway. She stimulates all my senses except taste and smell in a powerful way. Men have been pounded in recent yrs.with a lot of feminazi shame and are the butt of jokes in many social circles. Men have to perform in order to experience love otherwise they are invisible. Alizee appears to be devoid of anger or resentment towards men in fact appears to enjoy male attention and I think men especially are attracted to that genuineness. Especially an intelligent, attractive, humble, talented woman without an attitude or that angry white female thing that doesn't look good on any woman. Just call me Dr. Freud. You just thought you had the corner on the market at analyzing everything lol! That is my way simplified version and I could be wrong on all counts.
