Getting back to Blonde and the two songs I really enjoy in it, which were Alacaline and K.O., I think these songs suffered from poor beginings, though they aren't blatantly bad. I've spoke before how I do most of my music listening while driving and when I hear either of these songs come on, if I'm concentrating on my driving, as I should be, when I hear these songs come on, I'll automatically reach for the next song button, being too focused on my driving to realize that what lies beyond those beginings is worth waiting for.
This never happened with her first two albums.

Hey Amigo....incredibly beautiful beginning....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BJicii93m0

Moi Lolita....the opening music grabbed my attentions before I was stunned by what was to follow.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uGFU0kizUE0

Gourmadises.....amazing beginning. It's been my ring tone for several years.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPiaEnzdNDs

Youpidou.....Though I could have done without the young voice saying Youpidou, it didn't take away from the beginning and it's just another start I really enjoy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X4niY2rizA

A Contre Courant....The beat goes on....great intro music again
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvR1sWIltOE

L'Alize.....Maybe not a great beginning, but it certainly didn't drive me away
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6HcYwqaM9Tw

Toc de Mac......another amazingly beautiful start to a song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0sUlU8zcsV4

There were so many good beginnings to her songs on her first two albums that if they didn't grab your attention, at least they didn't drive you away.

The start of Alcaline I consider almost painful
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI1-37rXM74

Once you get past that, I love this song
https://youtu.be/PI1-37rXM74?t=14

Then this part here is where I really get into it and I always find myself singing along with it.
https://youtu.be/PI1-37rXM74?t=42

and I think this part here is over the top beautiful.....love it...
https://youtu.be/PI1-37rXM74?t=73

Unfortunately, they bring that opening music into other parts of the song and I think it should have been left out.

As far as K O......

K.O.'s beginning didn't seem that bad, but as I said, when I hear it come on and I'm concentrating on something else, I switch songs.

Once it gets into the part where she starts singing, I think it's a very good song
https://youtu.be/rGpl8Y_kiCE?t=7

and it soon gets into a great part of the song
https://youtu.be/rGpl8Y_kiCE?t=38

Then this part was so enjoyable to listen to
https://youtu.be/rGpl8Y_kiCE?t=130

So I think Alcaline and K O were two top-notch songs who's beginnings, may have caused them to not achieve the popularity they should have. Good videos for these songs would have gone very well with the music, but they chose to only make a video for Blonde and for a lack of a good video and for lack of good beginnings, the album was lost.

Very good analysis, Scruffy. Although I am not a video producer or any kind of choreographer, sometimes I have enjoyed imagining how I would create videos for some of her songs—and KO is one of them.

Speaking of Gourdmandies, I like the En Concert version better than the album version.

The album version is too "dry" sounding--- the E.C. version is more "airy" sounding. (Does that make any sense?)

For comparison:

album version of Gourmandies:

The music of the En Concert version does seem to have a better sound to it. Maybe the sound is less canned as you would have in a sound studio or as you said airy.

My thoughts on the albums:

1. MCE
2. Gourmandies
...

I agree that MCE is better than Gourmandies. But I'm surprised about people putting her solo albums ahead of Gourmandies. Hmm...

Well some speak of the artistic value of her solo albums which probably has some merit to it depending upon what you are looking for, but I'm not looking for Bob Dylan or Chateau Marmont, I'm looking for the same type of music we had from 1999 to 2003, that put her on the map. It doesn't have to be the incredibly sexy Jeam or ML or JPVA. I would be perfectly happy with songs like L'Alize, Hey Amigo, ACC, Coeur deja pris or Lou ou Toi. In short, I'm looking for 'Alizée'!

The thing that's probably most important to me as far as what I like in a song is I have to enjoy the music first and as far as that goes, I think Gourmandises was a league ahead of all her solo albums.

En Concert is definitely more "fun" in all her songs. JEAM is awesome En Concert. For Gourmandises, one particular performance leads the pack.

The live performance of Gourmandises below is the performance that my avatar is based on. The way her hair drapes over her left eye at times is very sexy. The way she moves in this video just blew me away, and continues to. It will always be my favorite Alizee video.

Unbelievably beautiful, unbelievably sexy! Can anything ever come close to what this woman has brought to those who love her type of music and love her type of beauty?

I like the "circus calliope" at the beginning.

Someone should take the aforementioned Gourmandies video and replace the audio with the En Concert version. (But the audio/video would need to be synced etc.)

I agree that the beginning of Alcaline is horrible. What were they thinking?

I actually like the beginning of KO (the guitar riff.)

It would be interesting to rework KO. I'd keep the opening verses, and keep the "Muhummad Ali" part-- those are good. The rest of the song--- such as the "KO O O O O O O" part--- I would re-write those parts.
